This section has been provided in order to give parents insight into the current research pertaining to deaf children and their families. All of the statistics and research findings have been incorporated into the author’s dissertation project and it provides parents with an understanding that they are not alone. It also provides parents with important information about their child’s experiences. Many parents go through several struggles when their child is first diagnosed with hearing loss. By reading some of the findings, it is the author’s hope that you will find comfort in knowing that other individuals have reported similar thoughts and emotions.
